For What are you thankful?
Some categories of thankfulness:
1.Thankful for the Lord.- Psalm 118:1
“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever!”
2. Thankful for others- 1 Thessalonians 1:2
“We give thanks to God always for all of you,
constantly mentioning you in our prayers”
3.Thankful for salvation- Psalm 18:48-49
“yes, you exalted me above those who rose against me;
you delivered me from the man of violence.
For this I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations,
and sing to your name.”
4.Thankful for our circumstances- 1 Thessalonians 5:18
“give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the
will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
I find it easier to be thankful for the first three. Yes, sometimes people are trying and frustrating, but overall there are a lot of people in my life I’m thankful for. I think I need to be more intentional about showing them I’m thankful. Maybe you do too? I think I need to be more intentional about being encouraging to the people the Lord has put into my life. Maybe you do too?
But let’s be honest the fourth category can often be the most difficult to live out. Sometimes our circumstances mean suffering, sometimes it means difficult people or situations. Are we honestly called to be thankful in all circumstances? The answer is clearly yes.
How do you fight this battle to be thankful in all of these ways? Let’s be honest again, it’s difficult to be a thankful person. I believe intentional praying, speaking, and sharing what you are thankful for with others is a good starting point for becoming more thankful. It doesn’t mean you will be perfect, but it is a start.

The prayer gathering intentionally focuses upon prayer for state and legislative leaders. No keynote
personality will speak. Hosts, name readers and prayer leaders will read Scripture and lead in corporate
prayer. While we unwaveringly practice and promote biblically founded convictions about many moral
issues, in our prayer conversations with God, we ought to intercede for our leaders and state, as
well.
